ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effect and mechanism of periosteal pressure kneading plus resistance exercise in improving obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).Methods Thirty-two patients with moderate OSAHS were divided randomly into a kneading plus resistance training group and a conventional drug group, each group with 16 patients. The training group was given periosteal pressure kneading plus resistance exercise while the drug group received only conventional oral treatment with drugs. Before and after treatment, polysomnography (PSG),Thera-Band elastic bands and a PWS angle measuring instrument were used to observe PSG parameters around the neck plus the muscle strength and cervical activity of both groups. Results In the training group the following components of the PSG index had improved significantly compared with before treatment:respiratory events (AHI),sleep structure (SS),awakening number (AN),non-rapid eye movement (NREM),rapid eye movement (REM),mean oxyhemoglobin saturation (MSaO2) events, lowest oxyhemoglobin saturation (LSaO2),and the index of oxyhemoglobin saturation decrease (ODI).In the drug group only the LSaO2 and ODI had improved significantly compared with before treatment. In terms of the PSG parameters, the training group demonstrated significantly greater improvement than the drug group. After treatment, the training group's average residence time in neck load pulling was extended significantly while that of the drug group showed no significant change. The difference between the groups was statistically significant. After the treatment the training group's average activity of the cervical spine was also significantly increased, and again the drug group showed no significant improvement. Conclusion Skeletal lesions in peripheral airways may be an important factor in the formation of OSAHS.Periosteum kneading with resistance exercise has an obvious curative effect on OSAHS.

ABSTRACT

Neonatal jaundice is a common neonatal disease. Severe jaundices lead to kernicterus that affects intellectual development of infants or even causes death. Timely and early prediction is vital to the treatment and prevention. This paper presents a jaundice predictor, which uses C8051F020 as the core of single-chip microcomputer (SCM) system with prediction algorithms proven by a large number of clinical trials. The jaundice predictor can reduce the incidence rate of jaundice, alleviate the condition of infants with jaundice, improve the quality of perinatal, with predicting pathologic neonatal jaundice effectively and calling attention to the prophylactic treatment. In addition, compared with the existing transcutaneous jaundice meters, the new predictor has a smaller size, a lighter weight, more user-friendly, and easier to use by hand-holding.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo investigate the genetic diversity and structure of Dendrobium huoshanense, a (CT)n enriched microsatellite library was constructed using a magnetic beads enrichment procedure.

METHODThe 3'-biotinylated oligonucleotide probe was used to hybridize with the digested D. huoshanense genomic DNA fragments whose both ends were ligated with adaptors. The hybridized complex was then combined with the streptavidin-coated magnetic beads. The captured microsatellite fragments were eluted, collected and cloned into pMD19-T vector. The recombinant plasmids were transformed into Escherichia coli DH5alpha competent cells. The clones that yielded two or more bands contained microsatellite fractions. Positive clones were screened and sequenced. Thirty pairs of primers were designed and synthesized. Polymorphism at each locus was determined using 24 individuals from a natural population from Huoshan county town in Anhui province.

RESULTTwelve polymorphic microsatellite loci from the microsatellite-enriched genomic library were newly developed across 24 D. huoshanense individuals. In total, 65 alleles were identified, and the number of alleles per locus ranged from 2 to 8. The mean observed and expected heterozygosities were 0.500 and 0.638, respectively. Two loci significantly deviated from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (P<0.05), which could be due to the presence of null alleles. Furthermore, three of twelve loci showed significant linkage disequilibrium (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONThese results suggest that the identified polymorphic microsatellite markers will be useful in population genetic studies of D. huoshanense.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe clinical effects of round ligament ventrosuspension or shortening round ligament operation by laparoscopy on treating pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS) after tubal ligation. Methods Thirty patients with PCS were treated in round ligament ventrosuspension or shortening round ligament operation by laparescopy. Follow-up was started from the third month after operative procedure to find out patients' symptoms ameliorated situations. Results Symptoms of all patients were ameliorated in various degrees after operations. The cure rate of the cases was 73.3%(22/30), and the rate of improvement was 20.0% (6/30), and the rate of inefficiency was 6.7% (2/30), and total effectiveness rate was 93.3% (28/30). Conclusions Laparoscopy is chosen to be a routine and first diagnosis or treatment means. Round ligament ventrosuspension or shortening round ligament operation by laparoscopy is a simple, high effective way of treating PCS after tubal ligation.

ABSTRACT

[Objective]To study better treatment of anal itching.[Method]Randomly divide 64 cases into 2 groups;the control group 32 cases take peri-anal sealing, the treatment group 32 combined with Chinese drugs fume-cleansing and seated bath, half month as a course, make statistics after 2 courses, take itching disappearing and injured skin recovered normal as evaluation standard.[Result]In treatment group,22 cases were cured,5 had marked effect,3 were better,2 had no effect, the total effective rate was 94%;for control one, they were respectively 10,3,7,12 and 52%;both groups comparison was of statistical meaning(P
